Well we are back in the swing of things after a week long thanksgiving break. During the break all the kids got to see the Nutcracker Ballet performed at the paramount and also the Culture Show which was on campus. The culture show was wonderful as we got to hear and experience music, drama etc from places like Madagascar, Africa, Brazil, China, Japan, and India.. it was wonderful.
Heres where we are in our Bookwork/education areas:
Math: K and C are into multi. by 9s, area, and solving for x.
Math: T and J are still in addition working on shapes and skip counting.
English: K and C are working on Subjects and Predicates (diagramming sentences)
Science: we are on to Venus, tomorrow we will make some Lava
History: We have finally made it to ROME! we learned about Romulus and Remus yesterday, the myth behind the beginning of Rome.
Bible: Kam brought a sheet from her Bible class about the tower of Babel so we read it and then read the story from the Bible.
Reading: I am reading "The Phantom Tollbooth" to the kids.. and they are loving it. Heres the jist of the story: (thanks for sharing this book with us M! we LOVE it!)
Milo has nothing much at all to do -- until he drives through the Phantom Tollbooth. Beyond it lies a strange land and an even stranger series of adventures. Accompanied by a watchdog named Tock and the ever-grumpy Humbug, Milo sets out on a quest for Rhyme and Reason, hoping to settle the war between words and numbers along the way. Now that he thinks about it, he's got plenty to keep him busy after all.
Spelling: I could list their spelling list for the week but I wont bore you.
The kids were all very motivated to get their work done this morning and all are down for an early rest time. K, T and K brought Madagascar to watch and of course they cant watch until after rest time.. My kids have never seen it so they are in for a treat!

I remember hearing about The Phantom Tollbooth but never read it. Fun! We watched Madagascar over the break and on the way back Case and I were singing, "I like to move it, move it..." That will really get stuck in your head!
