Library, Play, and more

The last few days have been pretty easy going.
We went to the library on Tuesday. The kids got to play on the computers and also get some books. The boys have been checking out a few of the Star Wars Jedi series chapter books, although mostly to enjoy the few picture that are in them. Catherine was looking at one last night and I asked if she was going to read it. She decided to read the first page and next thing I know she is a few chapters into the book. She says its really good. Of course LOVING StarWars probablay has something to do with it.. :) ..

The girls are working on a play for Valentines day. Taylor is the queen.. Kamie is the princes, Joseph is the court jester, and I am not sure about the rest. Right now the girls are practicing their parts. Taylor comes in to the wedding march and Catherine crowns (It is so much work creating a new crown for a princess/queen you know.. I should get the camera out) and robes her .. then she gets to sit on the thrown. Trixy, the dog.. also has a special royal pillow.. it will interesting to see the finished product. I am always amazed too at how much the kids enjoy and create with the keyboard. They make up plays, dances, write down the numbers of their favorite songs, and create special music of their own.

We have been learning in our ancient history the stories behind Buddhism and Hinduism. That has been interesting. Its been so good because we talk about the ancient greeks and romans and how they believed in many gods etc. We also talk about how people today still believe in many gods. That always seems to always get into a discussions of missionaries and why it is important to tell people about Jesus.

In Science we are still in studying the Earth and how special God made it for us. Yesterday we learned out the tilting of the Earth and the impact it has on our seasons. We also learned Atmosphere means Atmos- Steam and Sphere- ball. So got created a ball of steam to protect us and help us breath and grow plants etc. I have LOVED the Apologia Science because they give you internet links to each chapter. We have watched a video about the orbit of the Earth and changing of the seasons. The kids liked it.

Yesterday we listened to Your Story Hour, the story of Jesus when he was a boy. The kids listened and illustrated the story while they listened. It seems to be a nice quiet, calming activity to do right before we have our quiet reading time. (and nap time for Kamie). I will try and post pictures of their work later so everyone can see.
