Picture updates and what we did today.

Well we had a great day today. We went to the zoo. Heres what we talked about today:
the alligators latin name is alligator mississipiensis
What is a habitat. What animal lives in what habitat.
prehensile tales, monitor lizards,
Zebras stripes help confuse their enemies because they cant tell what is the front and what is the back. Their stripes also help with the cooling of their bodies. The white stripes reflect heat the black absorbs it cause an air current around their bodies.
We looked for a while at the Elephant and the information posted at its location. We got lots of great information from that.. too long to list. but did you know the longest tusk ever recorded was 11 feet long! wow
We did a lot of leaf collecting and feather collecting and found some great spider webs.. one was horizontal between two bushes!
We caught butterflies, talked about saltwater fish and freshwater fish (that started the conversation on habitat)..
We did crayon rubbings on rocks, leaves and trees.
All in all it was a great trip to the zoo.. seems like everytime we go we learn lots of new things!

We got home and it was time for lunch. After lunch I read from a book about Alexander the great and Bucephalas.. ten points to the person who can post who Bucephala was. :)

During rest time the kids read, Kamie, Taylor and Kaleb took a little nap while Catherine started her next American Girl Collection book. (Falicity), The boys looked at books and then I worked with them on their sight words. Catherine then joined the boys and we had a little competition for addition facts on flash cards.. it was fun!

After that I began posting all these pictures which you better scroll down and see cause they are here and my dishes are dirty! But its a great price to pay for you to be able to see them!

The start of Catherines leaf collection. (She has lots more now.)
Nathans and his nature art.
Eating popsicles in the afternoon.

Thanks for sacrificing the dishes to post pics. Means a lot to be able to see what the kids are doing and helps me to feel connected to them in a small way. I miss all of you!
