AHHHH the Phantom Tollbooth... we finished our journey! The kids were so great today listening so well and had the goal of finishing the book today.. and we did.. my two favorite quotes from this book..
"You must never feel badly about making mistakes," explained Reason quietly, "as long as you take the trouble to learn from them. For you often learn more by being wrong for the right reasons than be right for the wrong reasons."
and
"And remember also," add the Princess of Sweet Rhyme, " that many places you would like to see are just off the map and many things you want to know are just out of sight or a little beyond your reach. But someday you'll reach them all, for what you learn today, for no reason at all, will help you discover all the wonderful secrets of tomorrow."
I thought I would make a list of all the chapter books I have read to my kids and include this one .. I wrote them done one day a long time ago but if I put it on the blog I will have a record I cant loose :)

My Side of the Mountain was one of my favorite books as a child. So much adventure living in that tree and training that bird. What a simple life.
You're doing it right Ruthie. Keep up the great work of Mothering.
