Well. We have had a few days off from our "bookwork" as Joel was in the hospital and Cat and Nate had strep throat before that. Thankgoodness Kam, Tay, and Kal, are all healthy and didnt get sick.
Kam, Tay and Kal got new books that their Mom got for them and they seem to be happy to have fun, new crisp books to work from :) ..
Cat Jo and Nate got an in depth study of Dominoes while Nana and Pawpaw took care of them. Cat can play 42 now and can count points.. Jo got to go shoot his beebee gun with Pawpaw and of course LOVED that. The Swed Kids stayed out at S and Ms for the day and one night and of course had lots of stories to tell. (Bats, deer tracks, stepping on sticker burs, puppies, eating prickly pear jelly, all sorts of great things)
Yesterday and Today we have been getting back in the swing of things. It was so beautiful outside that I set up at table on the patio for the kids to work out. Math, Spelling, and handwriting are so much more fun when you are outside. While we didnt officially do science yesterday, Tay found a lady bug and Kal caught a moth. The moth we put in a jar and got to look at it real close. We also found in our front tree some locust shells (three) and wished we had been watching a few weeks ago so we could have seen them before they came out of their shell.
Today is Friday and our free day. I had planned to take the kids to the library but I asked and they all didnt want to go. They have spent all day outside pretending and just being kids. I did quiz them on their greek roots and I was happy with what they are retaining in those little brains of theirs!
If its one thing I have learned during this homeschooing journey of ours it is that we are learing all the time. Kids are naturally curious and the questions they are are great.. like why the balloon floats, why mosquitos bite, and why people move away. Learning doesnt take place only from books, or from a teacher in a school, we learn all the time .. and most of the time we teach ourselves. (Interesting HUH)
